You don't take into account
The problem of routine
Which is simply that it doesn't take into account
The problem of routine.
Quiet, unremarkable, well-ordered, well-lit
It seems impossibly good,
Like stock footage of a beautiful day.
But it gets to you, if you let it.
Old grief competes with life
There is always something to be regretted, but nowhere to reasonably fix the blame
How are you supposed to look out for me if you can't see past yourself?
Where did you go, blurry girl at the end of my nose?
Of all the seconds it could've been it was this one. This exact second.
Cascading into the sea, whipped into a breaking blue-green foam.
But like I said, I'm at a point in my life where I may have the time and resources to say "I'm okay, and I've been okay long enough that I can really start considering whether or not I'm happy."
